There are certain cases that are always painful, and at the end you tell yourself you’re going to stop doing them one day. Then after about 48 hr, the pain has passed enough that you’re ready again for the next one. Then this same cycle repeats over and over. 🤔

More data supporting extended antibiotics after Whipple and associated decrease in morbidity. Majority of patients had PDAC or CP (>70% of cohort) so presumably lower CR-POPF risk, reflected by ~10% POPF rate. Targeted mitigation strategies at ⬆️ risk patients may be the way…

“So, a soft pancreas ➡️ main driver of fistula ➡️ majority of deaths in #Whipple #surgery”📛 💡 “What if we use #SBRT to induce fibrosis preop in non-PDAC (!) pts. Would it work? Could we prevent POPF?”✅ Did anybody try this before?? ☢️ Happening now in the #FIBROPANC pilot

In 1970, two different groups of surgeons from the same Department, unbeknownst to each other, submitted abstracts on the *same* cohort of pancreatic trauma patients, but came to *opposite* conclusions on the role of the ‘trauma Whipple’. The committee accepted both abstracts.
