Everton have sadly become a case study for every major issue in modern football:

how you play, how a club is run, how you compete, how you spend, the economy of the sport, right up to regulations and - above all - ownership

There are two big reasons why

On a wider note, Everton also provide a cautionary note for the many in football looking to change things for self-interest rather than the wider game

The world you create can go beyond you

They were key to making PL. Rangers/Milan were key to making CL

The defence of Ten Hag is that absences/injuries have prevented him playing his system.

But the entire point of a system is to be independent of personnel.

Also, as any coach will say, it can’t be switched on and off - it has to be developed

Interview with John Egan, as he looks to get career back on track

You wouldn’t think Sheffield United are going down from the mood

On how you stay up, Ireland’s hope, relegation battles with points deductions and why playing Haaland is exhausting

Fans may love it and it may be unfair but hitting out at the media is usually a sign of weakness for a manager

They’re expected to be above it

Comparisons already made with Lampard

Ten Hag isn’t giving INEOS argument to keep him

Pochettino: 'We cannot blame the players. The circumstances are bigger than the players. We cannot blame young guys that came here, a team fighting to win the Premier League. We have to be careful, we cannot be unfair.'

Pochettino: 'The club is trying a new project, and this is the risk you take... it's true the circumstances are not helping to be more competitive, to be more consistent.'

Pochettino: 'We go to extremes. Our standards aren't sustained. When we have bad days, we are very bad. When we are good, we can go to heights.'

Pochettino's future will come under focus, but the Chelsea hierarchy are aware they have bigger problems - what is this recruitment model. How can you spend so much on fees to produce this

Arteta on the mood since Bayern: 'You just have to seize the moment, and the moment is beautiful. If you can do it for nine months you can do it now.'

Arteta asked about Pochettino: 'All the sympathy in the world, all he's been through. I've been on the other side as well. He's doing a great job. Their last seven games, they've deserved to win every match.'

Arsenal are so dominant and creating so many chances that it surely only means a shock Chelsea equaliser if they don't get the second soon.
