Another Conservative leadership contest at this stage of the electoral cycle might not address any of the party's underlying problems, but it would - and I beg Tory MPs not to forget this - be very funny.

My concern about this is that the incentive for schools risks moving away from *what* we are teaching (the curriculum) and towards performance metrics. Focus on the latter inevitably leads to distortions, shortcuts, and problems with the former.

Attention Insight Tracking schools: new statutory assessment report provides summary of results against nationals. We use Insight 'nationals' where no official comparators are available so you can have a useful report before summer holidays. Will also include 'optional' KS1.

Ofsted is scrapping deep dives as part of ungraded school inspections from September, Sir Martyn Oliver has announced during his speech at NAHT annual conference this morning. tes.com/magazine/news/…

A key question on this is whether this just signals a shift from a focus on deep dives to a focus back on data

Ofsted Sir Martyn says that removing the deep dives from September will allow for a proper conversation between professionals about the school's strengths

Says he hopes that this will be particularly helpful for small primary schools

It’s completely understandable that he lost his ID. This happens to lots of people. And that’s the point. He should not be disenfranchised. Nor should anyone else. The law is ridiculous.
