When I direct, I meticulously plan my shots. But I know from experience when I get to set the whole plan might go out the window due to time constraints, factors out of my control & acts of God. It’s just part of the process. #Adaptability as a #filmmaker is an essential trait.

We’ve got it all wrong. A.I. shouldn’t be writing scripts for us. As filmmakers we should be using A.I. to do all the monotonous, logistical and admin work. Freeing up our time to focus on the creative. It’s wise to leave the creativity to those with a soul. #Filmmaking

In #filmmaking every department thinks their job is the most important. The MUA, the costume, the photography, the acting, the stunts, the set design, the writing, the editing & so on. Your job, as the director/producer is to bring all elements together in 1 cohesive dance.

I’ve noticed in my life, that when I’m cocky & proud, I get humbled. Every single time. Don’t believe the mainstream, pride is usually hubristic & a foolish state to be in. Musashi said it best: “Think lightly of yourself & deeply of the world”

In filmmaking after a while you realise all the ‘rules’ are just made up & they don’t matter. They’re made up by people that aren’t creative & who don’t have a clue. Just follow the vision, nothing else matters.

In #filmmaking, the more skills you have the more indispensable you make yourself to a production. Build competency in editing, cinematography, VFX, acting, screen fighting. Learn it all. Master the game. More skills you have the more hireable you are.

Each day I keep my routine basically the same. That saves my creative energy. I can’t tap into creativity if I’ve made 20 decisions about what to wear or what to eat at the start of the day. If my mind and heart are clear, my imagination and creativity can run without limits.

When I see synchronicities, I know I’m on the right track. #jung

If you have a dream for your life, chase it until the wheels fall off. No matter the setbacks, the failures, the hardships, the blood, sweat & tears. Be relentless. In the end it will all be worth it.
