Two days ago, I was rehearsing the scene of Pope Leo confronting Attila the Hun, telling him not to enter Italy in Verdi’s Attila. As we sang this scene, Pope Leo XIV was elected the 268th Pontiff. It also was my birthday and happens to be the feast of St Michael. Truly, wow.
