Someone wrote a paper recently about clustering standard errors in a difference in differences design, yes? Anyone know what that paper was? Thanks!

👇Most Black Americans want to maintain or increase police presence, even if crime trends fall and police reform isn’t enacted. This is an important fact to reckon with for the defund movement.

If this is true (Econ PhD student at Princeton arrested and permanently barred from campus, which means unable to finish his degree), and if there isn't some kind of EXTREME additional offense, this seems like a major over-reaction, and one we should push back on as a community.

When you call the police to “solve” a problem you are in invoking the use of violence. You are creating violence. Arrest is inherently violent, even if no punches are thrown.

This video is a good example of that.

I don't want to hear more talk about students right now.

I want to hear clear statements that what’s been happening in Gaza is abhorrent and unacceptable.

This is cool. Neosporin swiped inside the nostril with a Q-tip can prevent viral infection or reduce viral load once someone is infected. Evidence mostly from mice, but with a small human double blind RCT as well.

I just posted 'Original Public Meaning' to SSRN. This new paper explicates the concept of original public meaning in a way that I hope adds rigor, precision, and theoretical depth to scholarly discussions. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…

I am planning to host an event at SOLE for attendees who are interested in the economics of crime. If you will be at SOLE and this sounds like you and you haven’t heard from me already can you drop me a line?

Important new The Lancet article examines mortality among 1.5m people released from prisons in 8 countries from 1980-2018. Death rates peak in the first week of release, driven in large part by alcohol and other drug poisoning (h/t Evan Roberts). thelancet.com/journals/lance…

Wild impact of the abortion ban in Arizona. The state has one of the largest probation populations in the country. Probation often prevents out-of-state travel. Women on probation seeking abortions won't be able to seek them for any reason in state. Or out of state w/o prison.

On the Berkeley law student dinner incident, this is the question I've been getting all day from friends, journalists, etc. Here's the condensed version of how I'm answering it:

New study in PNAS with my amazing coauthor Justin Sola. We find that basically nobody, not even Republicans or gun owners, wants neighbors with AR-15s or insecurely stored guns.
