MeetAnOstoMate.org Smoothies and purée because experimenting with fibre = painful small bowel obstruction, visit to Emergency Room, IV fluids, costly admission, etc. So not worth the ‘just a few bites’ lottery. Ileostomy for over 10 years with a couple of loops of compromised small bowel upstream.

MeetAnOstoMate.org You can get 'Stoma Powder' to sprinkle on raw skin. Then blow excess off prior to placing pouch. Also try Dansac Tre Seal - small 'padded' seal to shape around stoma before placing pouch over. Number - 071-20. Your Stoma Nurse should be able to help too.

MeetAnOstoMate.org Ensure the area is as dry as possible before replacing the baseplate and then liberally sprinkle Ostomy powder around the edge of the stoma, it forms a barrier to leaks. If possible leave the whole area uncovered for an hour or so each day. This works for me.
