PUBLICATION DAY 🙌🏻

It took me years of sacrifices, learning AND mastering another language, living far away from loved ones, living in a 12am for 6 years, eating apples and pasta because it’s all I could afford, countless amount of tears, dealing with very ill-intended people…

Edward IV claimed to have secretly married his queen, Elizabeth, on 1st May, the most romantic day of the medieval year. There's a lovely article on Elizabeth's device - the gillyflower or pink - at richardiii.net/wp-content/upl…

We've had some great teaching sessions Winchester College this semester! These groups learned visual analysis and material culture with hands-on experiences. Crowd favourites were the Qing porcelain cat, Athenian black-figure hydria, and the 1562 ewer and basin. Thanks, WinCol!

So semester two has not gone to plan 😂 Three admissions, two episodes of sepsis, one operation and daily trips to SDEC. I’m crazy behind but I’ve been here before. Waking up today with a to do list as long as my arm but feeling positive. Last few weeks of class ever…let’s go!

I’m a very lucky girl. 25 years ago I was sitting in a crowded pub in York trying to explain my concept for a book to a group of friends and telling them how I would get published by one of the big houses. Now I’m on a train off to discuss my next FOUR books!! Better get writing!

This is an amazing opportunity for students interested in queenship & royal households! The CDP programme is fantastic, giving you the opportunity to produce a doctoral thesis + time for curatorial placements, highly recommend, you’d be in great hands with this team!

I’m quite looking forward to Rebecca Rideal’s wonderful HistFest today! The lineup starts with “How to Survive a Tudor and Stuart Court” and I’m particularly excited to hear Dr Nicola Clark hopefully speak a little about her forthcoming book, “The Waiting Game” 📖

The rudeness of people! I want to hear Prof Janina and the other amazing female historians out there, and to keep being themselves. Be loud, be heard, always! Much love ❤

These fragments of stone are likely all that remains of the once grand shrine of St Etheldreda in Ely Cathedral, the Anglo-Saxon queen who founded the abbey on the site in 673. Her shrine was a major place of pilgrimage and was destroyed during the Reformation
