Depending on what the patient needed, that's not exactly uncommon. GSWs are best treated at Level 1 Trauma Centers and not every hospital can be a Lvl1 TC. IIRC, there's 5 states that don't have a Lvl1 Adult or Peds TC and most states only have 2-3 for the whole thing.
