It goes back to negrophila. Non blacks justifying their consumption of black culture by convincing themselves they’re the better curators, archivist, and taste makers of black art. The blacks don’t know what to do with this!

I know this is a cold take to most people who are fans of MIKE, but I genuinely believe he sounds the best on Tony seltzer, surf gang, and that JBL music tape he put out. Pinball 1 & 2 are his most fun albums to listen too imo.
