Social scientists leading public use data sets explain that my colleague Christina Cross is following good scientific practice in describing the datasets she uses. To call this anything other than good practice is a marker of scientific ignorance, intentional slander, or both.

Congratulations to Saul Ramirez who defended his dissertation proposal today. He is doing great work and I am so happy to be working with him and the other great scholars on his committee.

I have served on many NIH study sections to peer review grant applications. Even though we spend hours and hours preparing and we work in conference rooms from 8 AM to 5 PM, they are not allowed to provide coffee, much less lunch, because it is against ethics rules.

Bad:
- expanded Title T42 ban on asylum seekers
- transit ban requires people to seek asylum in countries they pass through even if there's no functioning system there

If more guns and fewer gun laws made us safer, America would be the safest nation in the world.

But 400,000,000 guns in the hands of civilians coupled with weak gun laws have given us a 25 times higher gun homicide rate than any peer nation.
