Agree with pretty much all of this. For rural Scotland, and increasingly the rest of the country, Holyrood feels as absent as Westminster.

That doesn't bode well for devolution, or for independence. Why bother changing one uncaring neoliberal establishment for another?

It’s slowly becoming obvious that as Greens we were used to give the SNP credibility at the expense of what makes us most appealing to voters - a left-wing prospectus.

I agree with Coll McCail in this piece, Scottish politics is in decline but I think a reason for this is because Scottish/UK politics is so locked into the American system which, itself, is in a state of turmoil and decline.

A trickling down of crises, if you will.

Poor Humza has been done a cracker here. Set up for a fall from the off and didn’t distance himself from Sturgeon when had chance. Did the hard bit ditching the Greens for Swinney to saunter into Bute House on the back of it.

Meet the new Government, same as the old Government.

Worth remembering that the Greens had no qualms about entering the Bute House Agreement while Kate Forbes was Finance Secretary. On the other hand, Swinney questioned whether she was a candidate fit for FM in February ‘23.

Funny how things work out.
