'I want to emphasize the irony of having a college that supposedly cares about journalism saying that, if their own journalists leave the [Pulitzer] building, they will be arrested.'
- @wkcrfm, who should win the Pulitzer for their coverage of the student protests and repression

So they've turned a dozen blocks - a whole NYC neighborhood - into a fully locked down police zone to repress a small number of nonviolent students.

Shame on Columbia. Shame on the NYPD. Shame on Eric Adams & Governor Hochul. Shame on CCNY.

feeling my brain sizzle thinking about how many overtime hours these cops are collectively cashing in to intimidate and beat on a bunch of kids and their teachers

this is going to radicalize a generation towards police abolition and towards university abolition, we will remember the date april 30, 2024.

we can’t go to public libraries on the weekend. we can’t find affordable housing. we can’t protest the death of innocent human beings. we can’t find jobs. we can’t inhabit public spaces. every aspect of our lives is encroached by limits. But none for the police.

In other words, journalists are being trapped inside the home of the pulitzers by police. WKCR reports that an NYPD officer peaked his head inside the j-school, and told faculty and press they could not leave. not a free press, at the home of the Pulitzer Prizes.

the university that administers the Pulitzer Prizes is trying to make sure there is nobody on-site to document what is about to happen

I’m told that NYPD aren’t supposed to be allowed on campus without faculty senate approval and faculty senate has not approved this

We need to recognize this for what it is, which is not only trying to shut down actions against genocide but using this as a pretext to grab power

student reporters trying to hold back tears as they have to report on the fact that NYPD will have a permanent presence on campus until May 17th

the student reporters at WKCR asking “who is going to document this if we don’t stay?” is so…gosh. this is so brave of them. Ian, McKenna, Leon, Georgia, everyone else: you all have my whole heart. stay safe, young journalists.

Every single student occupying those campuses is braver than every single pig in riot gear trying to hurt them in the name of a bigger boot to lick

A live broadcast of Columbia students informing each other of misinformation from admins, and of how how police are probing the campus and attacking people. 89.9, if you're local.

RELICS OF RUIN IS HERE!

This book was truly a challenge, keeping a twisty mystery at the center and building on the epic plotline (as well as keeping all the characters hearts solid). On the other side of it, I am so proud and I can't wait for you all to read it.
