Yesterday, we welcomed leaders from across the Midwest to Milwaukee for the Midwest Urban Strategies convening. It was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we come together with purpose, partnership, and a shared commitment to people.

I learned more about Turner Community Partners plans for new single family homes near 35th and Center Streets today. The city is providing four vacant lots for new owner occupied houses. Thanks to Keith Turner for sharing his plans.

The Mayor’s Bike Ride was a success! Even better news: Milwaukee has officially hit 51+ miles of protected bike lanes built or in progress — beating our 2026 goal early. Thanks to everyone who showed up and keeps pushing for a more bikeable city! #WisconsinBikeWeek

Today, I joined our community at the Milwaukee Pride Parade. Walking alongside so many people was a powerful reminder of the love and strength in this community. Everyone deserves to feel safe, seen, and accepted in the city they call home.

Reckless driving is taking lives in Milwaukee. We’re acting on Vision Zero: safer streets, stronger enforcement, faster trauma care. Dora Drake’s bill for safety cameras is critical – these programs reduce crashes by 50% in other cities. Milwaukee needs this tool to save lives

I welcomed public market advocates from around the world to Milwaukee for the 12th International Public Markets Conference. It's the first time in over a decade the conference is being held in the U.S. and a great chance to highlight the impact of markets in communities.

I hope for a full recovery for the brave Milwaukee police officer who was shot and wounded last evening. To his assailant, I hope for prompt and complete accountability. Anyone shooting at a police officer deserves the harshest legal consequence.

I am horrified by the shootings and murders in our neighboring state of Minnesota. Irrespective of deeply held policy differences, violence cannot be part of American politics. My thoughts are with those injured and with the family and friends of Melissa and Mark Hortman.

Milwaukee secured a key exemption from federal port fees that threatened trade at Port Milwaukee and across the Great Lakes. Thanks to advocacy across the region and support from @repgwenmoore, the Great Lakes got an exemption. This protects jobs and keeps goods moving.

Shoutout to UW-Milwaukee for hosting the Trauma in Our Community Conference — a space to reflect on how trauma shapes our lives and how we respond. Healing doesn’t come through violence. It comes through support, connection, and accountability. That’s how we build a safer Milwaukee.

Today, we raised the Juneteenth flag over Milwaukee. Because we’re not turning back. We’re not rewriting history. And we won’t stop until freedom is real for everyone.
