There have been so many days during this journey when I have felt my ancestors. Today was definitely one of them as we recognized Arab American Heritage Month in City Hall. 

Growing up in an Arab American family, I view the diversity of our city as our greatest strength.

My administration is happy to help shed some light on how our resources are being used and allowing citizens the chance to see just how much work goes into our City.

My prayers are with Bob Graham’s family. He changed countless lives for the better as a legislator, Governor of Florida, and U.S. Senator. He epitomized what it means to be a public servant. May we all follow his example and find our own ways to serve each other.

Bob Graham was Florida’s governor when I was a cub reporter covering the Florida legislature right out of college. He made me feel at ease and always remembered me by name. It’s how he treated everyone. Godspeed to a great man.
