I love this. In my intro to Parliamentary America, I tell the story of a young girl who, unlike her friends, loves carrot cake. I won't tell it here, but I will say that, showing wisdom beyond her 7 years, she helps frame the dangers facing our democracy.

Such an essential point. Many fail to appreciate there's only one way to eliminate parties--have a dictator prohibit all parties but hers or his. The question for reform is how to get parties to further the electorate's objectives. That requires more than two, yet not too many.

This was a wonderful show. Michelangelo Signorile was a terrific host who asked such thoughtful questions. Thank you!

I sympathize, Kim Kardashian. I love teaching it but totally get students feeling overwhelmed. It's so different from the remaining 1L curriculum. It demands integrating history, sociology, philosophy, economics, & more, and even then, it's laden with doctrinal inconsistencies.

'The grudging G.O.P. collaboration with [Dems] has only come about on truly existential, must-pass legislation .... [The] political incentives are stacked decisively against it.'
Intermittent bipartisanship absolutely won't solve our constitutional crisis.

I've now finished recording the 'Parliamentary America' audiobook! It should be just about 11 hours. I think it went very well, and I'll post as soon as it's available.

About to record day 3 of the audiobook for Parliamentary America. It's a fascinating process. I have a newfound appreciation for the many books I listen to. I also got the perfect tech editor. He studied both German and French, which was so helpful in narrating the world tour!

My take: Rick Hasen is obviously a very very smart guy, including in his LA Times op-ed (not only because he generously blurbed my book!) And Laurence Tribe 🇺🇦 ⚖️, likewise very very smart, maybe should apologize for a phrasing that in hindsight was neither accurate nor kind. Let's move on.

Several people have asked for a link to my March 10 @politicsprose book talk on Parliamentary America with Lee Drutman ⚙️🏛. I finally have an audio link. Despite minor glitches, it's complete. The event was standing room only. Lee was a terrific interlocutor. archive.org/details/3-10-s…

'[T]he legacy of the Roberts court will reside in the pages of [US] Reports, . . . not in the justices’ datebooks. What counts is not how the justices treat one another but how they treat the claims of those who come before them.'
Too obvious for an op-ed?

My KCRW interview with Robert Scheer. Scheer and I sometimes diverge, but we do agree that my reforms would greatly improve our democracy. With this link, you can watch, listen, or even read. Interesting side note: he interviewed Jimmy Carter for Playboy.
