UPS2976, an MD-11, crashed at 5:13 PM EST in Louisville, KY today. Unverified video shows the aircraft on fire as it took off. The plane was headed for Honolulu so was full of fuel. The resulting fire appears to cover a large area. Image from adsbexchange.com

NTSB confirms in the Louisville MD-11 crash that left engine detached during the takeoff roll. They found the "black boxes" about 30 minutes ago.

NTSB is about to begin their FOD (foreign object debris) walk, where they'll walk along the runway and use a drone to photograph all debris on the runway.

The Louisville MD-11 crash debris field created a fire almost a 1/2 mile long. NTSB will have 28 people on the scene.

NTSB says that UPS has told them that the MD-11 flight was not delayed and that there was no maintenance done just prior to the take off.
