Wintry precipitation will taper off Sunday and will be followed by a prolonged period of bitterly cold temperatures.

Still not in the Ice Storm Warming but it is too close for confort.

Our biggest concern currently is ice, Maury is projected to get 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch of ice. This will have heavy impcts on travel and utilities.

In addition to the ice we are projected to get 1 to 3 inches of snow.

Light snow is already occurring aloft, but the near-surface layer is so dry that it is evaporating before reaching the ground. That will change during the next couple of hours as the lower atmosphere saturates and enables the snow to reach the ground.

All Maury County Public Schools & Central Office will be closed January 26 & 27th due to snow, ice and low temperatures. No after school activities, athletics or Boys & Girls Clubs will meet at Maury County Public Schools during this time.

DANGEROUS COLD tonight, especially for those without heat sources. Check on neighbors and ensure pets and other animals are warm. Check with local media or emergency management for info about warming shelters. Most areas are likely to stay sub-freezing all week.

There is a low chance of snow Friday Evening through Saturday. If there is snow it will most likely be from a dusting to 1/2 inch.

Due to the continued impact from ice & snow, all Maury County Public Schools will be closed Feb. 2nd. All 11 & 12 month employees are to report to work. Any athletics &/or extra-curricular activities can resume after 2:00 p.m. Feb.2 at the principal’s discretion.

The Melt is Coming! Temps will fall towards 20 or colder again tonight then we warm it up! Between this week's warmup and rain on Tuesday, we should be able to get rid of the remaining snow/ice from last weekend very soon. That means the forecast is for muddy yards by mid-week.

We are in a Marginal Risk for severe weather tonight. Main threat is Damaging Winds and Heavy Rain. Estimated timing 6 pm to Midnight.
