As a 1L, I sought Cheslie’s advice about running for national office in NBLSA & it was actually invaluable. No one who served adjacent to her would have imagined her struggle, but it is precisely why law students should seek community > competition.

Thank you to Rep. Bobby Scott’s staff for caring about this issue particularly in VA where the governor has agreed to abolish legacy admissions!

Teaching Con Law in the same room I learned it in has been special! I feel privileged to teach opinionated & bright students @ W&L Law School. There was never a dull moment, even when discussing the Commerce Clause. For that, I am so grateful and certainly sad that the semester is over!

Our Smith Lecture ⁦W&L Law School⁩ honoring our first Black graduate (‘69L), Leslie Devan Smith, was today. ⁦Dr. Tsedale M. Melaku⁩ gave the keynote. My colleagues, including ⁦Maureen Edobor⁩, organized and introduced. It was awesome.

Thank you for your support Dean Melanie D. Wilson & to Dr. Tsedale M. Melaku for the remarkable lecture about the importance of recognizing all marginalized communities lived experiences & associated burdens, substantive allyship, and how to effectuate positive institutional change.

Really enjoyed moderating a panel on social media and lawyering with reb and Meegan Henry for W&L JCRSJ’s annual symposium. Our conversation about race and who is allowed to create content at corporate law firms was particularly interesting!

I just posted this paper, written for a symposium at Washington & Lee, on the real-world record of instant-runoff voting.

A key question about any voting method is how often it elects the 'Condorcet winner,' favored by voters over any other candidate.

If gerrymandered states like South Carolina or Louisiana had one more majority minority district the country might very well be in a different place….

Gains too much weight: “you’re going to get diabetes.” Looses weight, “do you have an eating disorder?” Neither of these comments are okay.
