The message of the Resurrection for the first Christians was that Jesus could still be the expected Messiah despite being killed by the very forces that the Messiah was supposed to rule. Jesus could still accomplish the things written in Psalms 2 & 110 because he was still alive.

Easter is kind of like Star Wars Day. All of the sudden everyone is talking about my year-round primary interest (often poorly informed), it's way too much at once, and then a few days later no one cares again.
