Looking forward to the AI in Biophysics meeting at the Institute of Physics next week! (Last second subscription is still possible until Thursday, if you are keen to join us!)

Never thought I would see qigong practiced at a scientific conference. Well… today I led a short session at the IOP Institute of Physics meeting "AI in Biological Physics"! Awesome!

On my way back from the CECAM workshop on ML for sampling rare events in biomolecular systems in Mainz. Three days of exciting science, meeting old friends, making new ones… and look at this venue for the conference dinner!

Machine learning is raking in Nobel Prizes this year! While I must admit that the award to neural networks has taken me a bit by surprise, the impact this idea has been having on the way lots of research is done in the physical sciences (including ours!) is undeniable.

Great to see protein structure prediction being awarded the Nobel prize. This was only a matter of time... congratulations to David Baker, John Jumper, and Demis Hassabis!

Want to know: 1- why #clay #minerals are super cool? 2- how to model interactions at their #interface? Read this: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac… We* made #ClayCode to help you set up truthful models of #clays for #MD #simulations with GROMACS *Hannah Pollak, Matteo Degiacomi & I

1/2 Today is bittersweet as I prepare to leave Durham, a place where I found incredible colleagues and friends, and a wonderful city I could call home for 7 years. I am deeply grateful to Durham Physics and Durham Chemistry for giving me the opportunity to grow as a PI.

2/2 Tomorrow I will join The University of Edinburgh as a Reader in the Schools of Informatics and Chemistry. I cannot think about a better place where to further my group's research at the interface of molecular modelling and ML. Onward to new beginnings!

Wohoo, Sam Musson has just passed his PhD viva, with a thesis centered on the development of ML models of protein conformational spaces trainable with MD simulation data!

A fully funded PhD position in AI for protein modelling is available in my group, at The University of Edinburgh's School of Informatics! For more details on the position and how to apply, see here: findaphd.com/phds/project/p…

A PhD position on the characterization of glycoprotein interactomes is available in my group at the University of Edinburgh's School of Chemistry. This is a competitive application in the scope of the EastBio DTP, for details see shorturl.at/0MoWN

So much fun at the Data Jam event at the University of Edinburgh’s School of Chemistry! Many great demonstrations of how data can be converted into music (including my own attempt at playing a Ramachandran plot)!

On Tuesday, I successfully defended my PhD thesis! I am now (almost officially) Dr. Leucine. A big thank you to everyone that made this journey so fun, and to my external examiners Noelia Ferruz Matteo Degiacomi ! Exciting things coming soon so stay tuned :)
