Throwback to when I visited #TheOutsiders house! Man, after a thousand hours of teaching this book, it was pretty surreal to be there! Felt like ol’ Soda was about to walk out on the porch. Glad they got rid of the porch toilet and decided to renovate!

English teachers, would you be at least 1% more likely to get a novel for lit circles if it came with an awesome workbook with legit discussion questions? Personally, I would be at least 84% more likely. #ELA #YA

Yeah, I definitely used #GoogleEarth to describe the landscapes in my novel. I'd click on the highway or mountain pass the characters were traversing and... describe it! It would have been hardcore to get on my bike and do it. Not as convenient though! #amwriting

I just signed up with #Outschool as a side-gig. You can pretty much teach whatever you're passionate about, so I'm starting a Harry Potter book study. I'm expecting classes of about 5 kids or so? Should be fun! #reading

Unrelated to writing, but I'm training for a marathon! I ran 8 miles the other day. I wasn't dying, but... I definitely could not have ran it another 3.275 times. Actually, the marathon does relate to my quest plot! Did not make that connection until now. #amwriting

#AMonsterCalls is definitely one of my favorite books to teach every year. Some students assume it's another run-of-the-mill horror story, but OH MAN are they wrong. Themes of isolation, death, acceptance, and The Truth hit hard. So good. #ya #patrickness

Apparently, this is how my son eats apples. The top half... including the core! What?? We had to stop him. instagram.com/p/CBlHPeNMzLj/…

I love crap like this: imgur.com/a/MhOPDhb?ref=…. I added some slight details like this in my own novel. You kind of figure that no one will notice...but how cool is it if they do? Makes me want to add footnotes like "You should probably reread that paragraph." #amwriting

Teaching memory: When Randy told Ponyboy that the rumble change anything, I jumped on a desk and hit the PPT clicker. It said IMPORTANT QUOTE!! and played techno music with bright flashing colors. Caught my kids off guard. Gotta keep'em on their toes! #sehinton #outsiders

“The God whom we worship is not a weak and incompetent God. He is able to beat back gigantic waves of opposition and to bring low prodigious mountains of evil. The ringing testimony of the Christian faith is that God is able.” - MLK

My book was picked up by Fire & Ice, a YA publisher. Woo! It should hit digital (and a few physical) shelves next fall. Thanks to Stephanie Cardel at #goldenwheat for tirelessly helping me on this project. Can't wait to see this book in "real life"! #YA #writing #finally
