Via National Army Museum - 19 Dec 1945, Viceroy of #India Archibald Wavell awards a posthumous Victoria Cross #VC to the widow an Indian Army soldier. Her husband was a British hero and she is wearing a #burka. 13/30 Indian VCs were posthumous in #WW2. #History #Burma Jack Bowsher - Thunder Run: Meiktila 1945

In 2003 in #Iraq British soldiers took down Commonwealth War Graves memorial panels at #Basra #WW1 & #WW2 cemetery in expectation of renovation, this never happened. Does anyone know where the panels went? #history #optelic #army #British #raisethecolours
