On behalf of all New Democrats, I extend my warmest wishes to Buddhists in Canada and around the world who are celebrating Vesak.

Today is an opportunity for us all to reflect on Buddha’s core teachings of peace, compassion, and service.

President Gertler’s message to the community and its response to UofT Occupy for Palestine today is an outrage, a travesty of lies and threats and gaslighting.

How dare you threaten your students and faculty with police?
SHAME.

On Liberty's a good start but if you want to know how Mill's views apply to twenty-first century political debates, you might want to check out some of his other books:

This is such fantastic news! Dan was one of the most talented writers I worked with when I was an editor, and I learned firsthand of his gifts as a thinker and scholar. His students will be supremely fortunate to have such a dedicated, brilliant teacher

Lol you should really bother to read my thread. The whole point is this idea of rebutting by periodizing citations is silly. Hayek was a very smart guy. So was Adorno, as serious critics like Scruton acknowledged when he rebutted the former's work with care.

Despite being active in the 1920s and doing his main academic work mid-century Hayek 's work remained largely uncited and little noticed until suddenly spiking in the 1980s.

Once again, capitalist political trendiness mattered more than merit in their adoption...

What the ICC prosecutor has said is that there must be standards.

If you're a dictator, if you're a terrorist, if you're an elected official, you cannot wage all-out war against civilians.

For my book promo, I’ve been asked to list five important books for me, along with a little write-up. I’ll tweet them.

1. Rawls, A Theory of Justice; 2. Shklar, Ordinary Vices. The #3 and #4 spots are a pair, starting with Helena Rosenblatt, The Lost History of Liberalism.

Excited to read this at Paul suggestion, since there's apparently some in depth discussion of liberal socialist thinking

I'm pretty overt about liking the Nordic states, and yes I do discuss it somewhat in the liberal socialism book
