Our government remains in close contact with the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo as the wildfire situation in the area continues to evolve. I spoke with Mayor Sandy Bowman of the RMWB and the Fire Chief. We are monitoring the fire closely and I offered our support to help

This morning I joined my colleagues and other volunteers to put together backpacks for local families including those in Calgary-South East.

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is issuing a Wildfire Evacuation Order. This order is in effect for Beacon Hill, Abasand, Prairie Creek, and Grayling Terrace. 

Due to the approaching wildfire, interfacing communities are being evacuated to allow for fire suppression
