What did the beaver say to the tree? Why did Shakespeare hate hedgehogs so much? And why are 1 in 4 of Britain's mammals threatened with extinction? Amazon is featuring our book (kindle version) for 99p, so why not find out? amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0BGQM…

Fly safely little bat! Next stop could well be Netherlands or Belgium. Another tag deployed on a female Nathusius' pipistrelle, tracking migration from England to breeding grounds in continental Europe. Norfolk & Norwich Bat Group Bat Conservation Trust University of Sussex BatLife Europe

Fun with Nathusius' pipistrelles last night. Tagged 12 at Minsmere (two of them flew to Lowestoft) with Norfolk BG. Hope the bats will dodge the wind turbines and soon be detected on stations in Netherlands, Belgium or Germany!

New overview shows conservation interventions can and do work. 🥳Hopefully, +ve news will encourage investment to reverse the crisis.
BUT urgent action needed on woeful lack of funding/research in Global South where there is most to lose! bbc.co.uk/news/science-e…

You never know when there will be an elephant just round the corner! (The baby must be at least 2 years old as before that it fits under its mum's tum). 🐘🐘 Sussex Life Sciences undergraduate and masters field course

A selection of frogs my students found at Kasanka National Park, Zambia, this week. Not just in wetlands, but in woodland, on our camp fridge and even under a pile of elephant dung (the fat one, which is a species of piglet frog). Sussex Life Sciences

The Netherlands has more breeding wolf packs than Norway! The wolf's amazing recolonisation of Europe, and its entanglement in politics and culture wars, is being discussed now by John Linnell at our 1st annual meeting. Rewilding Europe
