Check out this awesome figure made with the help of #phytools in "Sexually divergent selection, allometric constraints, and the evolution of sexual dimorphism in cichlids from Lake Tanganyika" by Masahito Tsuboi & Takahashi (2024; doi.org/10.1093/jeb/vo…).

An interesting paper @ASNAmNat reporting that the proxy for net selection and local estimate of selection mismatch. I disagree with their view that local estimates should be used to infer #macroevolution. I think it's the opposite. Nice work nonetheless. journals.uchicago.edu/doi/10.1086/73…

Please RT! We’re hiring 5 Project assistants/Field assistants for a population study of damselflies with Erik Svensson and Masahito Tsuboi as PIs. Besides research and field work experience, a beautiful Swedish summer awaits! DM me for questions. lu.varbi.com/en/what:job/jo…

The first many-analysts study in ecology is finally published! 🥳🙌 300+ coauthors and 5+ years, this was a massive effort by Elliot Gould Dr Hannah Fraser Tim Parker and co. Open access 👉 bmcbiol.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…

The paradox of predictability deepens: why is macroevolution so predictable from estimates of variation from just a handful of extant species? A new exiting paper by Patrick Rohner and David Berger!

There is something profoundly intriguing about this manuscript. Must be of interest to David Berger Patrick Rohner Keita Saito biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

4 years ago, Anjali Gupta spent a summer in Lund and collected amazing data of #Odonata with me and Erik Svensson. The data/results are published doi.org/10.1093/jeb/vo… Journal of Evolutionary Biology. Highlight: we proposed a way to relate present-day selection (#microevolution) with #macroevolution.

The diffused evolutionary dynamics of morphological novelty. Perhaps a good paper for our journal clubs? Erik Svensson Kjetil Lysne Voje Arthur Porto pnas.org/doi/abs/10.107…

Divergent selection and plasticity both increase reproductive isolation during incipient speciation! You can find our new meta-analysis of experimental speciation studies here: rdcu.be/ek019 with Erik Svensson and Philip Downing
