My initial Met Office training included a day with the forecaster preparing the Shipping Forecast. It felt quite special to hear him rehearse aloud carefully-worded drafts to get it just right

After 20 months and 54,500nm, Capt Maryla Ingham RN has handed over Command to Capt Tom Weaver OBE RN today in the Falkland Islands. The Ship will sail in the coming weeks to support British scientific and national interests in the region.

Whilst we were in Canada, Brynn Forness was our Captain for the Day. The family very kindly gave us a bottle of Shackleton Whisky and we promised we would take it to South Georgia and toast the man himself. We got alongside today and made good on that promise! Dani Forness

Our crew and 24 Commando Royal Engineers 59 Commando Squadron RE lending their engineering expertise to Governor's Office Montserrat at the Cultural Centre yesterday… and getting a little help! 🔨👷‍♂️

Our crew spent a rewarding day working together with University of Exeter and Marine Conservation Society scientists this week. With the use of our seaboat, we were able to assist in their #conservation efforts to safeguard the 🐢 population in #Montserrat 🇲🇸

Yesterday Governor Sarah visited HMS Protector for her first meeting with Captain Milly and the crew. HMS Protector is currently undertaking seabed surveys and will begin disaster resilience familiarization and outreach activities with local stakeholders next week. #HADR 🇲🇸

Our embarked 24 Commando Royal Engineers 59 Commando Squadron RE engineers have been working with Governor's Office Montserrat 🇲🇸 on a #HADR landing and comms test. We’ll be visiting places around the island over the next week - say hello 👋 if you see us!

Forty-three years ago, the worst disaster in ocean racing history took place when a huge storm hit the Fastnet race. The lives of those that were lost and the bravery of those involved in the two-day rescue operation will always be remembered.

Super excited to catch up with Cdr Maude Ouellet-Savard RCN in Halifax last night; she flew 5,500km from B.C. for 9 hours here! We worked together for 2 years teaching Navigation at FOST but it is the first time we have seen each other in person for 9 years! UK in Canada 🇬🇧🇨🇦
