I have finally updated Useful Bits and Pieces for Evidence Informed Teaching with a couple of terms' worth of backlog. There's around 100 new links in there - hopefully should prove helpful! achemicalorthodoxy.wordpress.com/2017/01/29/use…

More than 60 hours of recorded or self-paced professional learning is now available to @DETVic tutors and teachers. My top recommendation is Bron Ryrie Jones' sessions on effective instruction and formative assessment. education.vic.gov.au/school/teacher…

Lots of discussion around retrieval practice, mutations, Do Now quizzes and the like. Thought I'd chuck in my pennies as I've spent a *long* time neck deep in the research and the classroom applications. READ ON FOR RETREIVAL RECOMMENDATIONS >

Is Hattie's meta-meta analysis methodology sound, or does it fail to capture the truth about teaching? Have a listen to Nate Joseph talk about this type of research, and what it means for evidence-informed teachers! educationrickshaw.com/2022/10/09/s2e…

I rarely post but this is bugging me a little. I was excited to see Explicit Teaching listed here, and demonstrated by Jo Boaler even! numeracyguidedet.global2.vic.edu.au/hits-level-3-8… However, by the end, it seems they have turned "Explicit Teaching" into a weird understanding of visuals. Is it just me?

Research by Alicia Chang that shows gender difference in knowledge of mathematics starts before kindergarten, via direct speech by parents.... huffingtonpost.com/alicia-chang/b… … #LangLit18

Langlit has taught me about the criticality of early exposure to language and the roles that families and educators play. I also learned that our lecturer has a nice wardrobe #LangLit18

#langlit18 cause it's like, super duper fun But really stories act as a nice "guide" for scaffolding language for parents and educators :D
