Biden put his foot down and let it be known that if there were no change in Netanyahu’s policy, U.S. policy (on arms supplies) would change. Senator Coons (one of Biden’s closest friends in the Senate) announced he would support such “conditionality.” The carrot is Saudi peace.

Today Israel withdrew most of its troops from Gaza. The immediate ceasefire that Biden demanded is still being negotiated but this should seriously limit Israeli military operations to targeted interventions with a commensurate drop in civilian casualties. nytimes.com/live/2024/04/0…
