In my view, the problem of public sector reform in India is a mismatch of organization type and solution: more tech surveillance doesn’t work for coping organizations and the signal of distrust it sends often lowers effort levels rather than increasing them.

Highly recommend both, the book by Arvind Subramanian and Devesh Kapur, and this review by rathin roy. Together with Yuen Yuen Ang ‘s work on China and Dani Rodrik ‘s “One Economics, Many Recipes”, this provides a good foundation for comparing India’s and China’s dev story.

Highly recommend. Ideally, combine rich parents with no caring responsibilities to maximise academic success. Rest assured, universities have reward systems in place if one follows both recommendations.
