Presenting today! And this time a new topic we have been working on for the last years π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ ΏβοΈ Microbiology Society #microbio2024 #plasmid
Excited to be in sunny Edinburgh for Microbiology Society Annual conference to give a talk today summarising phage biology in the Uk - particularly from a therapeutic perspective. This is just the exciting line up for the first half of today's session - more today and tomorrow!
When 50 ml of phages is not enough! And you need 50 litres or just 4. So lucky to have Adam Ostrowski πΊπ¦π³οΈββ§οΈ visit us from Cellexus to install our very own CentreforPhageResearch system to optimise production scale up. Very much looking forward to seeing what we will do with it!
It is funny reading what we articulate in speech rather than what we write, but I think it actually might mean we say things more naturally and simply, anyway Beatrice Bowlby from BioTechniques asked good questions π!
Now CentreforPhageResearch are one year old! Thanks to everyone who has worked so hard to make so many good thing happen! instagram.com/p/C7ok97Xs0hJ/β¦
And for those of you wanting to know what we at CentreforPhageResearch have been up to in our first year here is a wee summary: le.ac.uk/news/2024/juneβ¦
I was very honoured to be invited to Association for Molecular Pathology Madrid β very nice to think about diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases in the same light as Cancer, see where phages fit and learn across disciplines how new tools in Machine Learning can help us see the wood from the trees!
I think this will be a great project for someone - if we can easily monitor the way patients immune systems respond throughout phage therapy treatment we will be able to get a really good handle on what is happening π! You will work with Spyridon Megremis, PhD (he/him)π¬π·πβοΈπ§, Don Jones and me!
It was a lot of fun to talk about our CentreforPhageResearch work as part of all things phage, and be a part of this lovely show with such intersting guests and engaging host. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0β¦
Thank you CentreforPhageResearch folk and all the other presenters at the Bacteriophage Oxford meeting for the great talks and lively discussions π! Hope everyone has good journeys back, I'm home still happily processing it all!
