Here’s something the #Ivermectin fans can get excited about. It’s useless against #covid but mass administration seems to reduce the incidence of malaria in children over 5 years. Widespread use once per month reduced malaria infections by about a quarter. Possibly more-wide

Excited to share our team’s latest publication on the use of MALDI-TOF MS for identification of Afro-tropical secondary malaria vectors. 🌍🦟 Grateful to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Marta Maia ,Dr. Carlos Chaccour 🦟🔚💊 malariajournal.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…

Our latest publication demonstrates how MALDI-TOF MS can accurately identify secondary malaria malaria vectors from Kenya and Mozambique. Performance was comparable to sequencing but costing less than 0.2 USD/sample. Congrats to Mercy Tuwei and team! malariajournal.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…

This study, by colleagues KEMRI-Wellcome , demonstrates the potential of MALDI-TOF MS as a cost-effective, scalable, and accurate tool for mosquito species identification. A key highlight is that the method is 91% accurate in species identification, validated by sequencing, and
