A rare visit to Belvide this morning started well by flushing a Bittern near Scott Hide and picking out the Lesser Scaup near the dam. Left the hide too soon and missed close views of the Bearded Tits by 10 mins but happily settled for a distant male a couple of hrs later.

Slim pickings at RSPB Middleton Lakes in Storm Darragh this afternoon. 17 Goosander, 8 Pochard, 4 Goldeneye, 2 GWE. Jubilee rising rapidly with path to hide already 6" deep. Langley Brook also backing up, so path thru woods may be impassable on Sunday. Staffs Bird News

A Whinchat playing hide & seek around west scrape & the incessant anctics of 2 Hobby over the wetlands were the highlights this morning at RSPB Middleton Lakes. The 2 Garganey were still on W scrape with 6 Blackwit. Also RP, 2 LRP, 5 Snipe, 2 Ruff. Staffs Bird News

3 Common Terns in the gull roost in the last dying rays of light bring RSPB Middleton Lakes to a final score of 96 for the #westmidsalldayer. Glossy Ibis the undoubted highlight but frustrating to miss out on Marsh Harrier, Pochard & Garden Warbler seen in the preceding days.

A nip round RSPB Middleton Lakes this afternoon as the showers ended found this morning's Ruffs MIA - presumably cleared out as soon as the first heavy shower ended. Nice to get my 2nd Clouded Yellow in a week here as one skipped west over Jubilee.

After 3 weeks in Bolivia, my first visit to RSPB Middleton Lakes in a month was, unsurprisingly, rather light on tanagers, antbirds and condors. Still, a latish Garganey was a pleasing find on Reed Pool. Also 3 Shelduck, Dunlin, 10 Snipe, Stonechat, 7 Mipit, 4 Siskin. Staffs Bird News

Pretty quiet at RSPB Middleton Lakes this morning where the most interesting thing noted was this rather dusky Canada Goose; whether it's anything more than just a dusky runt is beyond my pay grade, I'm afraid. Otherwise, Goosander, Dunlin, Snipe, 2 GWE, 2 Stonechat. Staffs Bird News
