3rd May 1938 King George Vl opens the Glasgow Empire Exhibition at Bellahouston Park. The centerpiece was the determinedly art deco Tait Tower, a 300' high observation tower a temporary structure that was dismantled the following year.

Possibly an informal thing born of a military culture after two wars?
