Two leaders who have no understanding about how colonisation has impacted on tangata whenua have been elected to lead for the next three years. The fact that divisive, racist tactics got them in reminds me of the importance of transformative education. NZ has a lot of work to do.

Being Māori and seeing what’s happening in Aotearoa, Australia and Palestine, honestly my heart is heavy. It feels like the world is trying to erase indigenous communities, our languages and cultures.

I was on the 5th floor of Turanga and multiple phones when off at once. Loud as. Thought a fire alarm had been activated!

The planet is speaking loud and clear to Canterbury voters today. Huge winds. Widespread power cuts. Time cut climate crisis inaction. Anyone know how the mega pivot irrigatators are faring this big blow?

“Ending division by race” and the “We are all one” rhetoric is a form of cultural erasure and a perpetuation of the colonising agenda. Not only does it ignore the very existence of indigenous people and the fact that this country’s founding document is premised on PARTNERSHIP -

Sad, sad news. Thinking of you & Helen and your whānau as you feel the great loss of Allan. It is a very special memory of mine handing over the petition with Allan & Helen in 2012. His life mattered.

With whānau I partipated yesterday in a Matariki community event centred on the observatory at Oxford Area School. Only school-based working one across the whole motu. They are doing so many cool things and it's run by community volunteers. We need more wonder!

Good to make good use of the interlude in winter rain and do some route planning for the Tour Tī Kōuka. Hoping to offer it as an event in Biketober 2023. Three legs covering a lot of Ōtautahi. Celebrating cycleways & urban biodiversity.

Brilliant news. I cycle this route multiple times a week and it's time the south saw some of the positive cycleway action

Cycling in Sydney keeps growing...
- up 18% in the last year for peak hour bike trips across the WHOLE council area, not just cycleways
- on some cycleways, like Bourke & Castlereagh, bike trips up 40%+ in a year

Excellent news. Now the mahi needs to happen. CCC need to give genuine support to the community sector if we are going to be successful.

Last 2 days two 25k return cycle commutes to the NW and E of Ōtautahi. Starkly diff experiences. NW a dream ride mostly on cycleways. Eastside dodgy as & cycleway-free. For cyclists the city is lopsided with safe and dangerous sides. Equity & safety issue. Complete the network!

Totally agree Mike. I'm totally over cyclists being treated like second class road users. There are more and more of us and we deserve the same provision of safe infrastructure as other road users.
