If a person has grasped grace they do justice. If they don't, they say they are grateful for God's grace, but in the heart they are far from him. Not caring for the poor reveals that at best one doesn't understand grace and at worst you may not have encountered Gods saving mercy.

The kindness of God leads to repentance. A Christianity that reverses the order of these statements is not Christianity.

For preachers (like me) who hate how Christianity is used politically by the right and the left, the best way to de-politicize our faith is to stick to the one message we’ve been entrusted with: the good news that, in the person of Jesus, God loves and forgives sinners.
