Rodger and I welcomed the Minister of Immigration, Ahmed Hussen, to Cape Breton today. We had a busy day of meeting with the nearly 800 Sydney IRCC employees, along with a visit to the Whitney Pier Historical Society Museum and the Cape Breton Partnership.

Across Atlantic Canada, we have seen that immigration is part of our history and has enriched our communities. I visited the Whitney Pier Historical Society Museum to learn about the story of immigration in Cape Breton and how it has helped shape Nova Scotia.

Thank you Minister Ahmed Hussen for taking the time to meet with local stakeholders at New Dawn Enterprises today. Great discussions on how we can improve the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program.

Congratulations to the Horizon Achievement Centre on the opening of their latest enterprise, Sebastian's Cafe! The Cafe is located in the Cabot House, right down the hall from my office. Make sure you stop in for a coffee and one of their delicious lunches or desserts!

It was an honour to announce a $858,000 federal investment into the Cape Breton Community Housing Association today! The building they are transforming will go from what was once a commercial space into a homeless shelter for women, men, and youth, offering 24-hour support.

What a pleasure to meet Wade Langham, the son of Cape Breton legend Rita MacNeil, today at the Downtown Sydney Street Festival just outside of the new combined location for Rita’s Tea Room and the Cape Breton Fudge Company!

An incredible morning in Eskasoni. Our federal government is investing $22.1 million dollars for a new 48-bed long term care facility, creating 70 jobs, and for high speed fibre op internet coverage for the community. Thank you Chief Saqmaw Leroy Denny for friendship and dedication.

It was my pleasure to welcome the Minister of Agriculture, Marie-Claude Bibeau, to the Farmer’s Exhibition today! Great to catch up with old friends and farmers from across Cape Breton. A big thank you to the extremely dedicated group of volunteers who make the event such a success.
