Reopening vaccination services at UNHCR-supported Basateen Clinic for the 1st time since 2017. This benefits local & refugee communities. Thanks to MoPH & UNICEF Yemen essential vaccines are available for kids under five & women of reproductive age.

♟️On #WorldChessDay, I had the privilege of playing chess with an inspiring older Iraqi refugee, Mohanad, at an event, organized by a youth refugee-led initiative, "Refugee Voice". As a chess enthusiast, I am thrilled to see how this game bridges generations and cultures.

#HappeningNow: Heavy rains in Sa’ada have severely impacted shelters, affecting many displaced families. UNHCR flood mitigation, incl a bypass channel, are in place but overwhelmed. Partners are conducting assessments & providing urgent assistance - much more is still needed.

Last night, our dedicated partners worked around the clock to aid flood-stricken families in Sa'ada, #Yemen Heavy rain and hail devastated the IDP sites, destroying belongings for many and worsening their plight. We remain committed to supporting them, but the needs are immense

📢Alert: Heavy rains hit Al Qaflah, Amran, causing severe damage. 🏚️ 300 families in IDP sites & 500 families outside impacted. 🆘 UNHCR leads CCCM cluster, coordinating partners to respond to immediate needs: food, NFIs, hygiene kits, clean water, & temporary relocation.

🚗 Building futures through internships 👨‍🔧 At TOYOTA's center in #Aden, Mohammed & Qasim from Somalia are gaining hands-on skills in car electrical maintenance. This is part of UNHCR's "Livelihood Interventions for Refugees" project, supporting skills development for refugees.

While visiting Ta’iz, I was inspired by Bahia, who was displaced from Ta'iz to Al Kamp IDP site. With UNHCR's support, she received 2 sheep last year, now increased to 5. From their milk, she crafts & sells renowned Ta'iz cheese, supporting her kids' education & daily needs.

Our response to the recent floods in #Yemen continues, with assessments ongoing. So far, 49,000 flood-affected individuals, most already living in displacement, have received essential shelter items. We're committed to helping families recover and regain a sense of stability.

🚨Daily heavy rains for over a month across #Yemen are severely affecting displaced families in IDP sites. Makeshift shelters are struggling to withstand the relentless downpour, leaving many vulnerable. UNHCR and its partners are responding, but the needs are immense.

An IDP site in the outskirts of Sana'a, home to 200 displaced families, faced severe flooding after over 1 meter of rainfall. UNHCR Yemen, Shelter Cluster Yemen and our partner are working on essential flood mitigation measures, building drainage systems to protect these families.

Last night, 153 Somali refugees voluntarily returned home thru UNHCR's ASR program, supported by the Somali Embassy & local authorities in Yemen They received medical screening, documentation, transportation, & financial support. Reintegration assistance awaits them in Somalia

Visited a temporary school at Dharwan IDP site, where 140 students learn despite challenges. Teachers work without incentives & the school needs additional partitions. Still, children make steady progress! With 4.5M kids out of school in #Yemen, investing in education is vital!

Met Mohammad at his shop in the IDP site Displaced from Sa’dah now providing for 16 family members. Thanks to UNHCR Yemen & YGUSSWP , a $300 grant helped him turn his small grocery into a lifeline for his family Targeted projects helping IDPs support themselves and the others!
