I had no idea this was a UK species! I saw this on the TV when I was a kid and was fascinated/totally grossed out by it! Amazing!

Time to stop the decline! We have reviewed evidence from thousands of species and find:
19% officially classed as Threatened with extinction (26% of mammals, 43% of birds, 31% of amphibians, 24% freshwater fish).

This kind of narrative pitting nature against food security is so common and misleading. It plays to people's fears and fails to acknowledge that these things are all interlinked. Without a healthy environment we won't have long-term food security.
