Excited about sharing this preprint. Acinetobacter can use its T6SS to kill Gram positive bacteria!! It secretes D-Lys to the media, which increases the pH and the activity of a bifunctional effector biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

The bifunctional effector can cleave the glycosidic and the peptidic links in peptidoglycan. Excellent work of Nguyen-Hung Le and Juvenal Lopez in my lab in collaboration with CavaLab
