I’ve just learnt that one of the men who trolled me quite extensively has been jailed in US and that he had a “bizarre vendetta against” me and FBI evidence found that he even used my name as a password to one of his accounts. 😩 dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5…

Hesitant to tweet about this…. BUT one of “Australia’s most prominent far-right extremist” / WHITE SUPREMACIST who has previously heavily trolled me has written a book/manifesto “WHITE BOOK” and dedicated several paragraphs to me. Have reported to authorities.

Speaking to my local police station is a re-traumatizing process. They still lack awareness about online threats & right wing extremists. Thanks to NSW Bias Crimes unit for at least trying to help & educate LACs.

Just a small sample of the casual #racism I sometimes cop as an Arab Australian journalist 🤌🏽 Notice how polite I was to him before he declared immigrants are the root of all problems. I was covering a hit and run by the way…but I guess the culprit is always “immigrants”.

Ran into this gem while in Canberra! This is Kat Wong. In 2022 Kat won our inuagural Political Fellowship to cover the Federal Election with Fairfax. Kat went on to win a coveted cadetship with AAP and upon completion, she was hired at AAP as a Press Gallery Journalist!

On this International Day of Elimination of Racial Discrimination, it’s important to remember that anti-racism is a verb. Let’s continue to turn our learning and unlearning into action, and be collective in the fight against injustice & racial discrimination, in media and beyond.

As the founder & chair of the IslamophobiaRegister (now in our 10th year), we have not be formally consulted by the Government on the Islamophobia Envoy role, referenced in today’s press conference announcement of the #AntiSemitismEnvoy

I can also confirm that as the Centre for Islamic Studies at CSU who published four reports isra.org.au/learn/isra-pub… on Islamophobia together with the register, we have not been consulted or contacted. #AntisemitismEnvoy

The Australian media needs to have its INTERSECTIONAL #MeToo moment. As well as a long overdue #RacialReckoning … No media company is immune. #4Corners Louise Milligan

To people who send messages calling me a “slut“, denigrating my appearance, making horrific untrue slurs about men in my life, you are in the tiny minority. You do not diminish me, you diminish yourselves. I feel deeply concerned for women in your lives. I hope they’re safe.

The feedback from last week’s inaugural MDA Symposium has been overwhelming.   Thank you to Western Sydney University (School of Humanities & Communication Arts, Western Creative & the Whitlam Institute), the Australian Communities Foundation and our speakers who made the event possible!
