🇬🇧📢 Fully-funded PhD studentship in Microbiology in Sullivan Lab UEA UEA Biological Sciences Centre for Microbial Interactions Norwich Research Park studying metal resistance in pathogenic streptococci, funded by Academy of Medical Sciences: tinyurl.com/24pxuc4x Closing date Friday 31st May 2024 #Micro24 @Microbiosoc
GLG vice-chair Chris Fearne highlighted urgency to address #AMR which if not addressed, may lower life expectancy by 1.8 years in the next decade, and to seize opportunity of the #UNGA HLM on AMR to commit to financing AMR response along with setting measurable goals. #eccmid2024
It was a pleasure to kick-off the pre-ECCMID day with an old colleague and friend, Maria Solsona, at the high-level #AMR event of #ESCMIDGlobal. Next days, I will be presenting two posters about our current work: P1212 and P1719 🧫🔬 Come and say hi! IRTA IRTA-CReSA
Excited to be back home for my first #ESCMIDGlobal2024 ESCMID. SO many interesting sessions going on!!! I’ll be presenting my poster (P1681) this afternoon (12:00-13:30h) on bacterial adaptation to biocides. Come say hi! 🧫🔬 Medical Research Council Quadram Institute GAMA Healthcare
Just 2 days left to apply for this PhD studentship on metal based antibacterial, with me and Mark Webber Quadram Institute UEA Chemistry 😊🙏🏼
Lovely day with the group spending some time together away from the lab, we missed Muhammad Yasir Keith Turner and Ryan but had a great day!
Mark Webber discuss the lack of harmonised definitions when considering biocide resistance and biocide tolerance….also regulatory implications #IP2024Conf
Nice presentation from Mark Webber showing that you can induce biocide tolerance in lab settings. But does it translate into clinically significant biocide "resistance"? Short answer: not often. A different story with antibiotics! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37648789/ #ip2024
Absolutely fascinating and huge amount of the data presented by Mark Webber on biocide tolerance and cross resistance to antibiotics. Interestingly biofilm not a mechanism for tolerance to biocides! #IP2024Conf
