As cyclone season ends in the Indian Ocean, Red Cross Red Crescent reps from Madagascar, Comoros, Mauritius, Mozambique & Tanzania joined a post-season workshop organized by PIROI - Croix-Rouge française & IFRC Africa to reflect on impacts, review procedures, tackle challenges & map the way forward

At #FHAS2025, the RedCross & Red Crescent of Mauritius, Seychelles, Madagascar & Comoros pledged to strengthen life-saving efforts at sea in the Western Indian Ocean, from training volunteers in sea rescue & sensitizing communities to supporting families after maritime tragedies.

Since 25 September, unrest in many cities in #Madagascar has put lives at risk. @IFRC is supporting @madaredcross in delivering urgent first aid, psychological support, evacuations and medical referrals - impartially reaching those affected.

Since unrest began in Madagascar on Sept 25th, lives have been at risk. @madaredcross volunteers are on the ground daily, delivering life-saving and impartial care : from first aid to psychological support, evacuations and medical referrals.

Avec le soutien de partenaires clés, les #Comores ont adopté le 14 septembre leur Stratégie et Plan d’action nationaux RRC 2024–2030, fruit d’un large processus de concertation, puis testés lors d’un exercice de simulation dirigé par Sécurité Civile - Comores et le Croissant-Rouge Comorien.

A massive fire tore through #Mananjary, southeast #Madagascar, on 15 Sept 2025, killing at least 3 people, injuring many, and destroying over 900 wooden homes. Malagasy Red Cross teams are on the ground helping 550 affected households across 3 communities with emergency relief.

As the world marked #DRRDay2025 earlier this week, governments, regional bodies & Red Cross Red Crescent partners gathered in PIROI Center under IORA & Commission de l’océan Indien COI_IOC to scale up risk governance, ensuring no lives are lost in predictable disasters. #IORAWorkshop2025
