I’m very sad to get the news about the passing of the great community organizer #GennyNelson. Genny was a friend to the poor & a mentor to so many ppl on the streets, organizers, agitators & policy makers. Genny’s spirit & advocacy lives on in so many people doing the work. ❤️

The Equal Access Rule is critical to ensuring safe access to shelter for transgender people experiencing homelessness. The Administration is trying to undermine it. We need your help to protect it. #HousingSavesLives Click here to take action: housingsaveslives.com

For decades, Genny Nelson, co-founder of Sisters of the Road, practiced compassion, listened deeply and honored the inherent dignity of each person she met. She showed our community what we can be. My deepest condolences to her loved ones and all who carry her spirit and legacy.

This camp shelter has been providing safety and stability for our neighbors without homes throughout the public health crisis. For someone to target vulnerable people to advance a ludicrous conspiracy isn't just wrong — it's sickening and dangerous. apnews.com/afs:Content:93…

There's apparently a video circulating claiming that our outdoor emergency homeless shelters are "antifa camps". This falsehood is both ludicrous and appalling. See below for the facts.

Please read this statement about the C3PO camp villages, supported by a coalition that includes Street Roots. These communities afford safety & health to some unhoused people — peace of mind they most certainly deserve. We must be vigilant when hate is aimed at unhoused people.

None of us is a lost cause. Ever. This is why this work matters. This is why every single neighbor we reach and help into housing matters. It means holding out a hand that's always waiting, and never giving up on someone. Thank you for sharing, @DoGoodMultnomah!

Proud of the work that Multnomah County, OR/Multnomah County Health Dept are doing with our partners — from vaccinating at shelters to sharing information among peers, and more — to break down barriers and make vaccines more accessible to our neighbors experiencing homelessness. opb.org/article/2021/0…

Dan lost his room through a series of unfortunate events. He carried a tent, tarp, and all of his belongings neatly folded with him while he ate lunch at Blanchet House so they wouldn't be stolen. 2,399 single adult men are unsheltered in Portland according to the 2019 PIT count.
