I admit that there are many, many things to admire about it and about Sorabji in general, but the music is so demanding for the listener…the Opus’s reputation as a pianistic behemoth overshadows the fact that there’s a very, very small audience for it. So what’s the use?

Answer me this though. Do you LIKE it? Have you ever listened to all of it? Is it worth the years and years of toil and trouble? The important thing to realize about Sorabji is that he needed first and foremost to create, and he cared little about actually being performed.

I haven’t actually ever played it or worked on it…

Haven’t played Sorabji for over 25 years, I’m afraid….the answer is somewhere in this thread.
