Off to Beijing! This Friday, as part of the British Council's Going Global Partnerships initiative, I'll be delivering a talk at the China University of Political Science and Law, where I'll discuss the 2019 Hague Judgments Convention and its implications for China.


It was lovely to visit Koç University Law School Bilkent Üniversitesi Hukuk Fakültesi KHAS Hukuk Fakültesi and to meet many wonderful colleagues & students to discuss the many intersections of financial regulation and secured transactions law reform with my colleague Vincenzo Bavoso UoM Law Manchester Centre for Law and Business


Kola Mayomi and I contributed a chapter to "Soft Law in International Trade Finance", examining UCP 600 enforcement in Nigeria, a key contribution to understudied commercial law in Africa. Today our visiting researcher Alican Caliskan from KHAS Hukuk Fakültesi delivered an excellent presentation "Assignability of Receivables under Turkish and English Law: Requirements and Prohibitions", chaired by Orkun Akseli, attended by UoM Law staff, PhDs and online participants


It was great to listen to our Visiting Scholar Alican Çalışkan who presented his comparative research on the assignment of receivables UoM Law Manchester Centre for Law and Business KHAS Hukuk Fakültesi Başak Baysal


Our speaker for yesterday's CLAB research seminar was Dr Derek Whayman presenting on 'Incomplete Agency and the Re-Evaluation of the Applicability of the Fiduciary Duty of Loyalty in England', organised/chaired by Ashley Hannay @JohnPicton5


For our final research seminar in Semester 1, Vincenzo Bavoso presented "The Quest for Access to Finance: Between the (Broken) Promises of FinTech Lending and the (Hopeful) Tradition of Susu", many thanks to our members for comments/questions. More events to come in Sem 2!
