Malvern’s Joan Richmond made history in 1932 as the 1st Australian woman to win a major motor-racing title. She was a Riley Motor Co UK, rally driver,achieved the first overland car journey from Aust to England and competed in the Monte Carlo Rally.

‘Gleneagles’ was close to present Myrnong Cres and Turnbull Ave,Toorak. Around 1939, the owner, Mrs Power noted that a frequent guest was poet Adam Lindsay Gordon and that he wrote several of his poems sitting under the trees on the property.
