People are now seeing (and tasting and smelling) decades of environmental degradation and underinvestment in water. But the Lough Neagh 'action plan' offers little more than scoping and fiddling at the edges. The PfG is even vaguer. Where is the urgency from the Executive?

I’m speaking to other parties and to the British Government about the shocking decision to pause city deal funding. We fought hard for this vital investment in Derry and in other places. We can’t afford to give it up now. We have to pull together and fight for our city deals.

Winter Fuel Payments scrapped. City Deals paused Casement Park funding refused. What an absolute shit show of a week from this Labour Governmemt towards the North. An utter disgrace.

As well as the failure to seize a huge opportunity for Belfast, announcing it in this way on a Friday night is utterly shambolic and unprofessional.

So the Executive parties went to London to negotiate for extra funding and came home with: 1. Cancelled city deal 2. No Casement. Should have stayed at home

With Northern Ireland no longer hosting Euros, does that mean they wont be entitled to the two automatic qualification spots that England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland are. The extra games that were for Casement should go somewhere in ROI.

I've been working hard engaging with senior cabinet Ministers in the Treasury and NIO over the last 24 hours to restore our City Deal funding. Delighted to receive initial confirmation that the Derry deal will continue tonight.

Abysmally handled by the UK Gov and an illustration of why the status quo doesn't work. But Executive ministers were in the Treasury on Thursday, knew about it before but didn't mention it in public until it blew up. Now they're claiming credit for fixing it. Bit weird, tbh.

The Euros in Belfast would have been transformational. Tragic that some Stormont parties are in denial about the opportunity we've lost. We now need urgent clarity on when Casement will actually be built.

The Finance Minister did not raise Casement Park with the Chancellor last week. She was also unable to confirm when she knew about the decision. Although the UK Govt has handled it appallingly, the Executive's dysfunction over the last decade got us into this situation.

Great to have Taoiseach Simon Harris TD in Derry today talking about issues that matter to people - investing in our city, addressing regional economic imbalances and creating the student places we need to succeed. More power to Derry ⚡️

It was clear listening to DUP reps today (and sadly some other unionist politicians) that they simply didn't want Casement to host the Euros even if it meant losing the largest spectacle NI has ever seen. A tragic inability to move forward positively.
