Had a fantastic time at the annual conference for Central States Communication Association this weekend in Grand Rapids. Honored to work with such great people in this space, like Jana Kent, M.A., Heather Gahler, and Samantha Schubert — our panel discussion won the top panel award for the graduate student caucus!

One of my most notable accomplishments this semester is that I won my department’s March madness bracket challenge. 😎

Yesterday I was able to participate in a panel at local theater, connecting my research on media, body image, and EDs to themes from the film Drop Dead Gorgeous. Always so fun to bring my research into the community space!!

Summer update! I have had the pleasure of working with the Mizzou Department of Public Health as a graduate research assistant, serving as a facilitator for maternal and child health listening sessions. It’s been such a rewarding experience.

Tonight I had the privilege of being a moderator yet again at Ragtag Cinema for their extra credit series, this time for a showing of Valley Girl. I love talking about research around media representation with my local community. Some might say it’s like, totally tubular. 😄

It’s official! I am a doctoral CANDIDATE! 🥳 I wrapped up my comps exam process last week w/ my oral defense. No corrections needed! I headed off to Playa del Carmen a few days later w/ family, celebrating my mom during her breast cancer journey & getting some much-needed rest.

No better time to host a lecture on family, politics, and media than the day before a presidential election! Thank you Tim Luisi, PhD for inviting me to give this presentation! It was a great group of really engaged students today. Don’t forget to vote tomorrow!
